Our steel standard firebacks offer added protection to the lower portion of your fireplace's back wall. This is the area where most fireplaces become damaged after several years of steady use.
A fireback is usually an optional component in correctly built masonry fireplaces however, we highly recommend their use in all pre-fabricated, condominium style, and metal units.
All standard firebacks are made from 3/8" thick steel and are 10" tall.
Important:
Be sure that the fireback you purchase is no wider than the back wall of your fireplace. Also confirm that the fireback is compatible with the fireplace grate that you intend to use it with. For example: The F-4 fireback fits S-4, M-4, and T-4 grates. The F-5 fireback fits S-5, M-5, and T-5 grates etc. Please don't order a fireback that is not matched to your grate.

Very important:
A fireback should NOT be used as a substitute for repair to a badly damaged fireplace back wall. Have your fireplace inspected by a professional mason or chimney sweep every year to check for any integrity issues. Never use a fireplace that is not in good or safe working order.
