Great, but a key flaw
I purchased this fireback with the grate to use together. They work really well as far as keeping the fire going and radiating heat. My one issue is that the fireback comes in black to match the grate which is nice, but after the first fire, the paint was gone and the back is just metal. If this is the case, why not just ship it that way? and why is the grate still black? different paint?----------Grate Wall of Fire's response: Both units have the same coating on them. The fireback gets considerably hotter than the grate; 1,200 degrees or more. No coating is going to hold up to that so it burns off. The grate itself stays a bit cooler so the coating survives a bit better. You ask why we don't ship the fireback bare metal? Well, we want it to look nice when it's brand new. Same reason they paint the blades on new bulldozers and the buckets on excavators I guess. After the first day on the job, the paint is gone. That's just what you do, you make new stuff look nice and shiny.

More heat, less busy work
I wanted to increase the heat from my fire place and I wanted to keep the authenticity of a wood burning fireplace. The grate wall of fire vertical grate increased the heat output from what was 3 feet from the fireplace to 14 feet. You can definitely feel the heat. It's also a lot less tending and poking to get and keep a fire going.

Excellent addition to the Gratewalloffire grate
I bought the Gratewalloffire and purchased the reflective back at the same time. I thought about it for some time as the cost was not inexpensive, but having a 60 year old fireplace and having read the warnings on the website we opted to get it. NO REGRETS! Not only does it protect the back of the fireplace, but it becomes a heat reflector once the fire dies down. We are very pleased and it is well worth the money.

Fantastic Product!
My wife an I are astounded at the difference your fire back has made in the performance of our fireplace! I can sit on our sofa which is approximately 10 to 12 feet from our fireplace and actually feel the heat radiating in the room. It's the best purchase I ever made! Great fireback. Protects my masonry wall quite well. Black paints seems fine even after dozens of fires, besides, who cares about the paint. My guess is it's just for corrosion protections during storage and shipping.

I love these items. Bought a fireback and the vertical great for our fireplace that previously did not produce much heat. Wow was I surprised when I lit the fire. Lots of heat and very attractive. I would and have recommended this to many people. I hope they contact for a purchase.

I purchased the fireback and a vertical grate to see if this would solve our problem of our chimney not drawing properly. Every time we had a fire, our house would get smokey. The grate works great and the fireback is incredibly thick and heavy. The UPS driver could not believe how heavy it was! It does reflect heat into the room and I trust it is providing some protection to the brick. It is well made and study as an ox!

Pleased.
Works better than I anticipated. It protects the back of my fireplace and does radiate heat from the fire out into my room. It acts as a thermal mass rather than up the chimney. Paint burnt off after one use which is fine, now it’s a more reflective surface for radiative heat transfer. Only flaw is that both feet are welded on only one side. Would of like to have feet opposing each other

Great Product
This fireback surpassed our expectations. Build quality looks to be very high and the design ensures that more heat is directed out into the room. We can easily feel the heat from 12-15 feet away when the fire is well established. Most importantly, the added protection our firebox gets from adding the fireback gives us needed peace of mind.

Excellent with learning curve
Purchased a grate and back wall combination. Found it moderately hotter than a generic grate; my wife liked it but I had higher expectations. Then I started adding wood in front of the grate, and it was transformative. The heat output is amazing with a log in front of the grate, especially when it burns down to coals. Basically extends the coal bed six inches closer to the room. The heat is incredible.

I have an older fireplace that was losing porter between the bricks at the back. My chimney guy recommended a fire back. I chose this one to go with the M26 grate I purchased. It works well. Heavy so I don't have to worry about it falling over and puts out a lot of heat. I'm very satisfied.

Very simple solution
Amazing how something so simple can change the entire atmosphere of our family room. The amount of heat reflected back into the room from our fireplace with the reflective back has been amazing and it has the family to be very comfortable without blankets covering us. Product is heavy and sturdy. Love the attached feet that makes install easy. Fast turnaround time from order to product at doorstep.

Expensive, but worth it

Very impressed
I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at how this piece of metal radiated heat from our fireplace back into the room. There is a noticeable difference. I went with the 26" wide model, and they are right- this thing is heavy. Placed into the fireplace behind our existing standard grate, and it looks nice in there as well. Ours came in a bare metal finish, almost a bit of a patina on it. Highly recommended!!

Awesome purchase!!
Our fireplace has never produced so much heat! We’ve been able to stop turning the heat on during the day on our main floor bc this fireback projects a lot of heat. Our thermostat gets to 70 when we have a fire cranking. Highly recommend!

My fireplace is located in the interior of the house. The wall behind the fireplace which forms part of a hallway was extremely hot and presented a significant fire hazard. I used the fireback with a 3/4" thick ceramic fiber board behind it. The ceramic board is relatively soft so I was able to cut it to the shape of the fireback using a utility knife. When I burn a fire now, the wall behind the fire place gets only slightly warm; it is barely noticeable. There is no longer any safety issue whatsoever. The product is very well constructed, and it works far better than I thought it would. I highly recommend it.

The fireback and matching grate are great! We got rid of a clunky old insert with noisy fans and could only use logs about 15 inches max. Now we have a wide open fireplace with a beautiful fire, can burn logs larger than 24 inch and it pushes out at least as much heat if not more than the insert. The room is about 30 x 15 with a room off to the side. Once the fire gets going you can feel the heat coming off the firepace half way into the room. We love it, we have our fireplace back!

This is an excellent and necessary addition to our fireplace as we purchased it along with the grate wall of fire vertical grate The fireback offers protection to the back wall of our heatilator fireplace as well as additional radiant heat. Nice addition to Wall of Fire grate
This fire backing plate does a good job of projecting some of the fireplace heat into the living room while protecting the brickwork in our fireplace. Adds a classic look to the fireplace!
