Fireback

I have field stone fireboxes, and the heat generated by the Grate Wall grates has damaged the rock and pointing. After a repair, I added this fireback. It's great insurance against more damage and the heat retained by the steel warms the room long after the fires has died. Solid workmanship as always. Great service. I will buy another shortly for the larger fireplace, and for the same reasons.

Works great for us

We live near Atlanta, and added this fireback, along with the S-4 grate to our 20 year old, prefab zero clearance fire place. I am very satisfied with the purchase, the new setup adds 5% maybe 10% efficiency, to our inefficient setup. But for us, we burn for ambiance and relaxation, and a $3000 insert is probably 10 years outside our budget. We went with the 16” grate because our largest logs are 18”, and I think it makes the fireplace look a little larger. I’m glad we bought the largest fireback that would fit. We burn far more wood now, than we did previously, but that is simply because I love to use the fireplace more, and stacking the wood nice and high initially is so much easier now, and makes for such a beautiful fire. I would estimate we will burn 3/4 cord (1-2 Times a week, November to March), when last year we burned about 1/4 cord. The grate also fit perfectly over our gas starter.

Received the new grate and fireback. Shipping was quick and everything came in good order. The first fire was a little slow to start (I might need to tweak the routine). After it was going, I was amazed at the heat it put out. I could feel the warmth against my face sitting 10' away and a screen in front of the fireplace. Not a whisk of smoke. Wish I had purchased this years ago!!

Throws heat

I the HDRF-5 Fireback with the M-5 Fireplace Grate and the pair work great. Fires start easily, throw serious heat, and make no visible smoke or smoke odor (always a problem with our fireplace before) even after burning hard for six hours. And the fire looks good as the flames roll up through the logs in the vertical grate. The heavy duty back and grate combo are sturdy and don't wobble or budge even when I throw a big log on.

great protection

very fine piece of craftsman. Measurements are perfect. i use this back piece in a brick fireplace to prolong the fireplace's integrity. and a good comprise from a wider piece to fit my budget.

In our new house we had lots of smoke in the house when we used the fireplace. Our chimney sweep told us to buy the reflective fireback and grate-wall-of-fire. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. We now enjoy smoke-less fires and get a lot more heat to the room.

A great addition to our fireplace.

We regularly (5 nights a week?) build a fire in the evenings. After adding the fireback to our masonry fireplace we definitely noticed additional heat into our family room. It works. Plain and simple.

Fireback

We have a fire in our fireplace in the evening while relaxing. Using the fireback radiates the heat into our entire room! It raises the room temperature by 3+ degrees within a hour of lighting the fire. We also have the vertical grate which is easy to load and keeps the smoke going up the chimney, not into the room. We are very pleased with your products!

SATISFIED AND IMPRESSED WITH INCREASE IN TEMP. IN FRONT OF GAS FIRE PLACE . IF TEMP ON 1ST FL. THERMOSTATIS SET AT 68 deg. The temp. In front of fireplace reads 77 degrees. MAKES FIRESIDE CHATS MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE.

Love the product

The reflective fireback has done all that we were told it would do. It has increased the amount of heat exiting the fireplace and keeps my house much warmer. It is a solid piece of steel and I believe the unit will last for many years.

This item does exactly what I wanted it to do. The back of my fireplace is now protected and the heat is reflected back into the room. I'm burning less wood and getting a warmer room instead of all the heat going up the stack. I hesitated for years to invest in this kind of item, I should have done it years ago.
