This completely solved our problem of smoke entering the room and ruining the fireplace experience. I could not possibly recommend this any stronger. Well worth the money. Quality product and works as intended.

Happy

We've always burned wood but never really heated the house. Our house is 2200 sq ft on the main floor and we can turn the furnace off and just run the fan and it stays plenty warm on the entire 1st floor. Almost too warm for me but my wife is very comfortable. Lights fast, burns less wood and easy to maintain. It is a little pricey, but I'm using less wood and more heat efficient than my standard grate before. We have 3 fireplaces in the house and thinking of getting one for the other 2.

Happy with purchase

We've been VERY happy with this purchase, even though it was pricey. We had not been using our fireplace very often due to smoke in the house (and having to disconnect the smoke detectors every time we had a fire). We've had a fire nearly every day since we bought this. Two comments: 1. The fireback pushed the fire too far forward, even with the short grate, due to the slope of the back wall. That did cause smoke in the house. Since the fireback wasn't essential in our old brick fireplace, we flipped it flat on the bottom of the fireplace and put the fire grate on top. That allows us to take advantage of the heat-absorption/radiation, possibly even more than if it were behind the fire. You would have to make sure to get a fireback at least as wide as the grate to do this. 2. The decorative pineapples are removable, not welded on. So it can be a little annoying if they are knocked off while you're trying to move logs around with tongs. But we still like the appearance enough that we would have purchased them even if we had known.
