Description

The T series was the first generation design of our Wall of Fire grates. Although not as popular as their shorter counterparts; the S and M series, some are still drawn to the allure of our original grate design. It really comes down to aesthetics and of course, having the necessary fireplace opening height to fit these taller units.

Note:
It is a common misconception that a T series grate will produce more heat than an M series unit. Both units actually produce the same amount of heat because the lower ember retaining chamber is identical on both. A wider grate on the other hand, will produce more heat than a narrower unit because of the increased width of the ember chamber.

Dimensions:
19" Tall, 31" Wide, 14" Deep. Approximate shipping weight in box: 3/4" construction weighs 51 lbs. 1" construction weighs 90 lbs.

Fireplace size requirements for the T-7 grate:
The rear wall of the fireplace must be a minimum of 31" wide (dimension A), the fireplace floor must be a minimum of 16" deep (dimension B), the height of the fireplace front opening should be a minimum of 30" (dimension C) to allow adequate clearance to easily load firewood onto the grate. See more sizing information on our measuring guide page.

Fireplace construction requirements for the T-7 grate:
It is important to understand that the Wall of Fire grate is a one sided unit. This means that the burning firewood is positioned between the grate and the rear wall of the fireplace. Having the firewood in direct contact with the back wall of the fireplace will significantly increase the temperature of the firebrick and may cause brick and mortar fatigue over time. Because of this we highly recommend you also purchase a fireback to shield the back wall of the fireplace from excessive heat. If you are planning to use a Wall of Fire grate in any non mason built fireplace such as a pre-fab, zero clearance, or metal fireplace, the addition of a fireback is absolutely mandatory.

The 1" Bar option on a 31" Grate is a beautiful fit for our 5'w. x 4'h. Lodge Fire Place. Previous traditional grates always eventually sagged from the heat. The vertical log stack is easy light and feed, and requires less operational maintenance. I recommend supplementing the system with a 3/4" Fireback for full benefit.

Awesome
Used Great Wall of fire for 2 Days. I was really skeptical but product way exceeded my expectations! It truly does produce a "Wall of Fire" I was having a hard time keeping seasoned Hard Wood buring but no more. Thanks again

Mr
I have a large fireplace that is extra tall in front. With the regular horizontal grate it would smoke. A curl of smoke would rotate like a drum across the front and some would spill out smoking up the room. With the more vertical grate with logs more towards the back and stacked to expose the coals I have more heat, less logs burned if I feed it slowly and "no smoke". Very pleased.

Grate Wall of Fireplace
I am 63 years old and have had fireplaces my entire adult life but not until I installed a grate wall of fire grate have I been able to contain the smoke from entering the room or from having the room smell like smoke the next day and Beyond. We entertain the thought of installing a fireplace insert but I'm glad we tried this first.

Mr.
EASIER TO BURN I can now cut longer firewood saving some time woodcutting. I also do not have to worry about a heavy night-time load rolling out the front of the fireplace. Ashes are much easier to clean out then with a horizontal grate. This was a very good buy and makes fireplace burning more of a pleasure.

excellent
Excellent design - we have a large outdoor fireplace and this does a great job with the vertical log placement - throws out terrific heat and looks better/ fills the space better than traditional log placement. Service was terrific - ordered on a Saturday, delivered on Tuesday.

Mr.
Liked the design from the start. Could have been a few inches wider for our fireplace. Fire started quick and wood burned as promoted, evenly and steadily. Used 30 inch logs and ended up with nothing but ash in the morning. We are very happy with the results.
